ATD 2014: Session M202
David Rock | May 05, 2014 | Video

How and why does understanding the brain improve coaching? What should coaches know about the brain to be effective? How can coaches get skilled in this new area? This session focuses on how leaders and managers can be better coaches, with a heavy emphasis on having quality conversations. You will learn how to facilitate positive change in yourself and others by working at the level of your own thinking. Coaches will learn to improve thinking by facilitating others' processes to move through the stages of identifying impasses to generating insights, then enabling actions through to generating sustained new habits.

Talent Management Scorecards: Demonstrate the Value of Talent Management Initiatives

ATD 2014: Session M204
Lynn Schmidt | May 05, 2014 | Video

Designing and implementing a talent management scorecard is an important step in helping executives, human resource leaders, and talent management personnel monitor the performance of the L&D function. A talent management scorecard can demonstrate the alignment between talent management initiatives, strategic objectives, and operating goals. It can help you demonstrate the value of your strategic workforce planning, talent acquisition, succession management, onboarding, employee development, leadership development, coaching, and mentoring programs. It is the communication vehicle to help others see your contribution to the business. In this session, the speakers will provide a methodology for designing and implementing a talent management scorecard that tracks activity, efficiency, and impact data from both a macro- and micro-level perspective of success. They will provide a scorecard template and describe the steps for its use, as well as examples of how the scorecard process was implemented in various organizations. Lessons learned and recommendations for implementing scorecards will be provided.
