With the revised constitution duly passed and put into operation at the recent Chicago convention, we are able to face the ems of the coming year with renewed hope and vigor. We expect to increase our numbers by adding new groups and new indivi-duals. More important, we are looking forward to a vear in which the Society's services to its members will be greatly increased in both amount and quality.

Nearly every director of training ac-tivities honestly considers himself lim-ited by the factor of time. While it is recognized that there is always more work to be done, in many cases the supposed handicap may be caused, in part, by lack of time-saving tools at least one of which is readily available at low cost to ASTD members.

Under the title, Program Informa-tion Exchange and Library Services, an active committee of ASTD members is bringing to realization a wc 2 program of constructive communications in the area of program development. Purdue University, through the offices of Dr. Charles H. Lawshe, Division of Education and Applied Psychology, and Professor John Moriarty, Librarian, has made possible a depository for program materials from which members of ASTD may borrow copies by requisitioning them through their local libraries.

Months of preliminary research, personal interviews with training director as-sociates, and members of the research division of the Cleveland Chamber of Com-merce, convinced the writer that now was the time to prepare a survey 011 the rela-tively new position in the business world—the Training Director. Employers stated that they were hesitant to hire a training director who was not referred to them by a 1 raining Directors Association or someone equally qualified to judge the applicant's qualifications.
