Essential Series FAQs

How does the Essentials Series work?

Each Essentials Series online workshop is delivered by a live facilitator who is an experienced learning and development practitioner. You and your fellow classmates will collaborate in the virtual classroom via interactive group discussions, polls, chats, and whiteboards.

Are these webcasts?

No, each Essentials Series program is a complete online workshop where you will engage with your facilitator and fellow classmates during the scheduled session times. These are interactive learning events and you'll take away real-world examples and practical job aids, tools, and templates to immediately apply on the job. Do I need special software to participate?

Special software is not required. All you need is a standard web browser and a telephone or VOIP capability on your computer to participate. WebEx Training Center is the platform used for the web component and a toll-free phone teleconference or VOIP through your computer is used for the audio component. Both visual and audio (phone line or VOIP) components are required in order to fully see and hear the workshop.

Once I register, how do I access my workshop?

You will receive complete instructions and a link to enter the virtual classroom via email after you register. Please monitor your inbox for this communication from ATD.

Are the sessions recorded?

Each session of an Essentials Series workshop is recorded in case you miss a session or would like to review the content again. The instructions for viewing a recording are listed on the pre-event email you will receive from ATD one week prior to the program. Note: Essentials of Adobe Captivate 3 is not recorded as it only meets one time, for a full day.

What is included in the registration fee?

All course materials are included in the registration fee. Additionally, you will be given access to all the session recordings for your workshop. A textbook is also included in the registration fee for the Essentials of Captivate Tips and Tricks and Essentials of Evidence-Based Training programs.

Will I receive a certificate of completion if I attend a program in full?

No. Essentials programs are online workshops, not certificate programs.

If I want to pay by check, or enroll multiple attendees at once, how can I do that?

Can I take multiple Essentials Series workshops?

Yes, you may enroll in as many of the individual workshops as you'd like. Just be sure the session dates/times do not overlap for the workshops you want to participate in.

If you plan to enroll in more than one workshop, ATD offers an Essentials Series Online Pass for purchase. For one low price, you can take as many Essentials programs as you like within one year from the date of purchase. Learn more about the Essentials pass.

Can I participate if I am located outside the U.S. or Canada?

Absolutely! The only difference is that you will use a toll telephone number for accessing the audio component (please check with your phone carrier to determine rates for calls to the U.S.). Or if you have VOIP capability on your computer, you can participate that way.

Can I transfer my ATD membership to another person?

Please note that the ATD membership discount rates apply only to the person who holds the membership. You may not register a nonmember at your member rate. If a nonmember attends a workshop registered at the member rate, the difference will be billed.

What is the Cancellation Policy for Essentials Series workshops?

If cancellation should be necessary, written or email notification to ATD is required five (5) business days prior to the first day of the seminar. You may receive a full refund, minus a $100 administrative fee, up to and including the 5th business day before the seminar. If you find that you cannot attend, and it is less than five (5) business days before the start of the seminar, you may send a replacement, with written notice to ATD. If you are unable to send a replacement, you forfeit your registration fee.

What is the Transfer Policy for Essentials Series workshops?

Participants may transfer their registration to another seminar free of charge. The transfer request must be received in writing five (5) business days prior to the first day of the seminar for which you were originally scheduled. A $50 transfer charge will be applied to all transfers received less than five (5) days prior to the first day of the session. Participant substitutions may be made at any time with written notification to ATD. If the substitute participant is not an ATD member and the original participant was, the difference between the member and nonmember rate will be billed.
