Essentials of Adobe Animate for E-Learning Designers

Use Adobe Animate to create interactive HTML5, video, and animation.

For nearly 20 years, Flash has been the standard for producing amazing, interactive content for the eLearning developers. Because of the emergence of HTML 5, the demand to create interactive, animated elements that leverage web standards while being able to play on all devices has become very important. Adobe Animate is the new tool from Adobe that combines open source animation and familiar tools into one application that can indulge your creativity as well as your desire for programming and interactivity.

E-Learning development software is good not great. Often, they are missing key elements that provide interactivity as well as motion graphics and animation. For the developer looking to add that magic back into their learning, without leveraging old Flash technology to do it, Adobe Animate is the new go-to tool. How do you begin? How can you leverage what you already know about your authoring tool and apply those skills to Adobe Animate? Most books and learning sites target the designer or the developer, but as an eLearning author, where can you go to get started? If you can relate to these questions, this three-session workshop is for you.

At the start of each session, you will receive sample code and graphics via a download. You will also be assigned homework each week to help you get the core skills you need to get up and running in Adobe Animate quickly. This workshop takes place using extensive app sharing, so you get to see and experience Adobe Animate during the session, and then work with it on your own between sessions.

Program Overview

Program Overview

New technologies and advances in the design of eLearning specific software have made it easier than ever to create engaging projects and programs. While these tools have made the development of eLearning programs easier, the true test of any project is the interactivity between the learner and the program. Complex simulations, detailed scenarios, and realistic, human-like interactions are difficult to pull off using “rapid development” tools. A more advanced tool is required to take your desktop and mobile eLearning to the next level. Adobe has released that tool in 2016 – Adobe Animate.

You will leave this workshop with an understanding of Adobe Animate’s place in the toolbox of the eLearning developer. You’ll know how Adobe Animate projects can be the foundation for the entire project in both HTML5 and SWF, used as spot videos for use in your authoring tool, or as an addition to the simulation and interaction building function of your tool.

Learning Objectives

Learning Objectives

By the end of this program, you will be able to:

  • Create and animate (tween) using graphic, button and movie symbols
  • Design a custom interface using the tools available within Adobe Animate
  • Create functional HTML 5 and SWF export files
  • Learn to insert and use JavaScript (HTML5) and ActionScript (SWF) to add interactivity to your learning project
Topics

Topics

  • Basic Adobe Animate design process
  • Interface, Symbols and Tweens
  • Making it Interactive – Using JavaScript and ActionScript
Who Should Attend

Who Should Attend

This program is for eLearning creators who have outgrown their development tool and want to bring a higher level of interactivity to their projects. No knowledge of Animate, HTML5, JavaScript or ActionScript is required, as the session spends little time in the “presentation” and most of the time running Adobe Animate. Learners will need to download and install the trial version of Adobe Animate in order to complete homework between sessions. An open mind and a desire to learn this powerful software tool are the only requirements.
