Writing a voiceover script for e-learning is different from any other kind of writing you will do as training professional. It requires special attention to tone, point of view, personality, and politeness. In addition, the voiceover is often the main vehicle for delivering the narrative introduction that grabs the learner’s attention and painting the scenario that ties your e-learning lesson to a real-world work objective.

In this interactive program, you will learn to define the appropriate voice and tone for a narrative text and take specific steps to create the engaging and personable writing style that voiceover narratives require.

Program Overview

Program Overview

This program focuses on how to develop the engaging and personable writing style that voiceover narratives require. After analyzing your audience, you will choose the content and writing style most appropriate to your audience. You will consider what belongs in the voiceover versus what belongs in the onscreen text, and eliminate unnecessary and distracting material.

After learning the specific writing techniques that work in a voiceover, you will practice writing various components of an e-learning voiceover script, including a narrative, a scenario, step-by-step guidance through worked examples, and “visible author” examples that encourage learner engagement.

You will have the option of writing scripts using planned examples, including a complete running e-learning lesson, or working with a project of your own. You will be provided with direct feedback on your work as time allows.

What to Expect:

  • Technical Requirements: Each session of the workshop is conducted in the WebEx Training Center platform with a toll-free teleconference or Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) option for the audio component. Special software is not required. You only need a standard web browser and telephone or VoIP capability to participate.  In addition, it is strongly recommended to use a desktop or laptop computer as using a tablet or phone severely limits your ability to fully and actively participate in the program.
