Speaker Bio & Session Description

Kimo Kippen
Vice President of Global Workforce Initiatives, Hilton Worldwide

Kimo Kippen, former chief learning officer and now vice president of global workforce initiatives at Hilton Worldwide, is responsible for creating lifelong learning alternatives for Hilton's hundreds of thousands of team members.

For his accomplishments as a learning leader, CLO Magazine named Kimo the 2015 Chief Learning Officer of the Year. He was recently selected as the chairman of the board of directors for the Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund, of which Hilton is a founding member. Kimo served as the chairman of the board of the Association for Talent Development in 2007. He also sits on the board for the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning and is actively involved with Business Champions as a representative for Hilton Worldwide.

Prior to joining Hilton, Kimo worked for Marriott International for 21 years. In his last position there, he was responsible for the Center of Excellence for Learning. Before this, he led management engagement for the enterprise. Kimo also has served as vice president of human resources for Renaissance Hotels and Resorts, North America. He is an adjunct professor at The Catholic University of America. Kimo holds an MS in career and human resource development from Rochester Institute of Technology and a BS from the University of Hawaii. He is a graduate of the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland's Post Graduate Program.

Keynote: Think Differently: Lessons From a Learning Leader That Will Change How You Think!

In this session, Kimo Kippen, learning leader and vice president of global workforce initiatives at Hilton, will use personal accounts to illustrate 10 lessons he has learned throughout his life.

Kimo will tell these stories from multiple perspectives: student, corporate trainer, learning executive for the hospitality industry, chief learning officer for a global and ever-expanding company, and advocate for lifelong learning. Each lesson will be told through stories that span the diverse workforce population, regions throughout the world, and technological advancements.

You will leave this session with 10 stories to share with others and 10 new ways to approach your role as a talent development and learning professional.
