John McDermott is a learning and performance consultant living in the mountains of Northern New Mexico. He has taught technical and non-technical topics in diversecountries over the last 35 years. He has written courses in multiple topics including computer networking, programming, and cybersecurity. 

In 1981 he graduated from the University of New Mexico With an MS in Computer Engineering.

John has spoken at ATD ICE on the topics of course promotion, storytelling, and delivering technical training. He has also spoken in other venues on using live and virtual instructor-led training concurrently,  using enterprise softeare, and other topics.

In 2001, John helped start a charter high school in Angel Fire, NM.

He loves training, technology, and focsing on learning transfer. His wife is the acclaimed artist Katherine McDermott.
