ASTD Launches 2012 China Summit in Beijing and Shanghai

L&D professionals learn industry trends, best practices with focus on achieving excellence.

As the market in China continues to grow and evolve, learning professionals need to adapt and evolve too. With that in mind ASTD, the world’s largest association dedicated to the training and development field, is proud to have launched the 2012 China Summit where industry trends and best practices from Chinese organizations were shared. The goal of the summit is to help learning and development professionals in China understand where the industry is headed so they can use learning to support their organizations and achieve enterprise-wide business results in 2013.

The ASTD 2012 China Summit featured distinguished speakers, including Christopher Pirie, chair of the ASTD Board of Directors and General Manager of Microsoft’s Sales, Marketing and Services Group Readiness (SMSG-R); Rich Wellins, DDI Senior Vice President for Development; Pat Galagan, ASTD Executive Editor and Manager of the Senior Leaders Community of Practice. The featured speakers introduced the latest trends in learning and leadership development, and discussed technology, social media, the influence of mobile devices on the learning industry, and how learning practitioners need to become business partners.

China’s rapid economic development garners worldwide attention and as its market continues to grow,  learning and development has become a priority for many organizations. At the 2012 China Summit, many of the ASTD Excellence in Practice Award and Citation winners from China shared their first-hand experience achieving excellence through learning. Representatives from China Post, China Telecom, MTR, and PepsiCo Asia Pacific participated in a panel discussion and shared their best practices.
