Today, we want to introduce an exciting new project on key global learning that ATD Research, along with ATD International, is launching. This project is sponsored by lynda.com (also the sponsor of Research Week). Read on to learn more about this project, as well as how members from all over the world can help by participating in the survey.

Through this project, ATD Research hopes to gather and share with the talent development community valuable information on current learning practices and trends from a truly global viewpoint.

What Are Some Global Learning Trends that ATD Is Studying?

The topics we are hoping to provide a global perspective include:

  • trends and challenges in learning
  • learning staff and staff resources
  • alignment of learning with business objectives
  • learning hours, content areas, and delivery methods
  • spending on learning and outsourcing of learning activities.

How Is ATD Planning on Collecting Data?

ATD Research and ATD International have developed a brief online survey targeted at learning leaders familiar with their organizations’ overall learning objectives, strategy, and practices.

In early 2015, this survey will be sent to ATD members from more than 120 countries, as well as key contacts from contributing international organizations. These contributing organizations, who have strong reputations in the talent development field and relationships with ATD International, will help distribute the survey to their members and contacts.

We ask our members to keep an eye out for an ATD email asking them to participate in the survey. Having more participants and more data will allow us to gain, and share with the talent development community, greater insights into global learning trends.

What Are ATD’s Plans for This Project?

ATD Research will analyze the data and release the findings in a full report in late 2015. We also plan on creating a whitepaper version of the report (free to members), as well as an infographic (free to everyone) and webcast (free to everyone).
