ATD Releases New Bilingual Research on Talent Development in Brazil

ATD Research and ATD International have completed their first study on talent development in Brazil. Brazil: Talent Development Snapshot, 2015 allows organizations with operations in Brazil to benchmark their talent development activities against those of others in the same country. 

In April 2015, ATD conducted a survey of 80 talent development professionals in Brazil, which the Brazilian Association for Training and Development assisted in distributing. ATD assessed the talent development outlooks, resources, and practices in Brazil, gathering data on key metrics related to talent development staffing and budgets, as well as formal learning hours, content, and delivery. The top industries that participating organizations operated in were education, manufacturing, and finance and insurance. 

The report found that among organizations in Brazil, performance improvement and training delivery were the two areas that talent development functions expected to focus on the most in the coming year. The most pressing challenge for respondents was knowledge transfer. 

In Brazil, the average number of annual learning hours per employee was 35.8, in line with the rest of the world. For comparison, the average number across all organizations worldwide was 34.4 and the average in Latin America was 36.8, according to the ATD research report Global Trends in Talent Development

The traditional live instructor-led classroom is still the dominant delivery method in Brazil. For the average organization, 58 percent of learning hours are delivered in this setting. The remaining hours are delivered using technology-based methods or a blended approach that combines technology with the traditional live classroom.
