The Trick to Recruiting Talent That Sticks With Social Media

Social recruiting is no longer just a buzzword, nor is it a secret weapon for finding talent. With 89 percent of businesses planning to use social media to aid their hiring efforts, it has simply become part of the talent management landscape.

Research from The Conference Board reveals that social recruiting has become a top priority for many HR and talent professionals. Why? According to some estimates, the typical time to fill empty positions at a record high of 27 days. What’s more, managers are increasingly worried about the cost of those unfilled positions. Clearly, the pressure is on social media to meet hiring goals.

Here’s the good news: Social media can help recruiters and hiring managers connect with passive candidates. You know, that part of the talent pool that is not in the process of looking for jobs. Passive candidates account for a whopping 75 percent of potential applicants, so they’ve got the potential to really help solve several hiring problems. These candidates won’t be found on job boards or other places where companies advertise positions, but they are on social media.
