A 2014 Accenture study, Is Government Making Inroads on Innovation? asked federal managers to pinpoint their agency goals for innovation. Nearly half of all respondents (46 percent) viewed cost reductions as the end game of innovation, whereas only 27 percent felt incorporating new technology was a main objective. Perhaps it's time for chief information officers to help technology play a bigger role in furthering innovation.
