Mobile Management in the UAE

Tuesday, December 23, 2014

In the United Arab Emirates, it could take up to four weeks for the average IT department to equip and train staff with the mobility tools and applications needed to perform their jobs efficiently and effectively, according to a new study. This timeframe increases to eight weeks when it involves contract workers. This sluggish pace can compromise the value employees deliver, and cause the country’s workforce to lag behind. The study found that only a small percentage of the UAE’s IT departments believe they have all the mobile management capabilities they require to support staff needs, and nearly half said they cannot fully control access to company information from employee mobile devices. Attitudes may be an issue contributing to this slow uptake. The study found only a small number of IT departments believed it was their responsibility to monitor employee access to mobile tools and applications outside of working hours, although many felt under pressure to do so.
