Small Business Administration Launches Emerging Leaders Program

Tuesday, December 30, 2014

The U.S. Small Business Administration has launched its emerging leaders executive level training series for 2015 in cities across the nation. The seven-month education series involves classroom time and provides the chance for small businesses owners to work with mentors, connect with their peers and dialog with city and community leaders. The initiative has trained more than 2,400 small business owners, and it’s helping to create jobs and provide resources for under-served communities. “The Emerging Leaders Program is a resource that can open lucrative doors for America’s small businesses,” SBA administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet said. “The addition of new cities in 2015 will help serve even more entrepreneurs. Graduates of the initiative have measurably increased their revenue, and helped create jobs and drive economic growth in their local communities.” Emerging leader program graduates have brought in more than $1 billion in government contracts and secured more than $73 million in new financing nationwide. The program has generated nearly 2,000 new jobs since its inception in 2008. The program graduated 400 small business owners in 2014.
