Managers Need Training

Sunday, June 7, 2015

Managers are an important part of any workforce, and great managers can have a positive effect on an organization’s ultimate success. But this doesn’t happen automatically. While some are born with a natural talent for leadership, very few managers bring everything they need to the table. With the right tools, knowledge, and training, most top performers can learn to become great managers. According to recent studies, American organizations are severely lacking when it comes to leadership development. One of the most recent and heavily cited studies on this topic, titled America’s Workforce: A Revealing Study of Corporate America’s Most Neglected Employee, found that 32 percent of respondents thought that their company’s managers were critical to its success, yet 57 percent of respondents reported their manager training programs were not supported by senior leaders. In order to succeed, this attitude must change. Leadership must become actively involved in management training in order to produce engaged, motivated, and productive employees. When managers are trained well, everyone wins.
