Yoga and Meditation on the Rise

Tuesday, October 27, 2015

Companies across the country are starting to offer yoga classes and guided meditation as on-the-job perks intended to help employees maintain a healthy work-life balance. Some companies have gyms, but yoga instructor Linda Zogas told The Reading Eagle she'll teach classes in the office. "We move the chairs aside, throw mats down, they change and come in and take three breaths and we're ready to go," she said. "It's pretty much fun." Research has shown that while offering a wellness program or gym facilities can be beneficial, it might be even more helpful for stressed, burned out employees if guided sessions were offered during the workday. Employees were more likely to take advantage of these classes rather than fitness perks like free gym memberships or an on-site weight room.
