Employee engagement has been the subject of countless books, meetings, seminars, and retreats, but is it really possible to condense the concept into one sentence? One person thinks so. Kevin Kruse, an engagement expert, says that engagement has been talked about so much that the true point has been lost in the static. Engagement, according to Kruse, can be boiled down to one simple fact: “People give loyalty and discretionary effort to those who foster growth, show appreciation, share a compelling vision, and are trustworthy.” Obviously, he says, many will dismiss the “one sentence employee engagement course” because of its simplicity. But managers who apply these principles will see a profound impact on the levels of engagement in their organizations. As simple as it is, it simply works, he says.
