The Collaborative Key to Engagement

Monday, June 27, 2016

The benefits of employee engagement have been demonstrated time and time again, but a recent study from Aon Hewitt showed that across the globe, the organizations with the highest levels of employee engagement demonstrated 58 percent higher returns for shareholders. At this point, boosting engagement should be a clear priority for management and executives, and those who aren’t prioritizing engagement efforts will quickly fall behind. These organizations will not only be less attractive to potential new talent, but they will also hemorrhage revenue. The Hay Group recently revealed that low engagement in the United Kingdom is costing the country £340 billion annually. For many looking to boost engagement, however, collaboration has been the most important factor. A recent study released in the Netherlands showed that elevated levels of personal responsibility usually lead to better performance and higher levels of engagement. The study revealed that workers who were members of self-managed teams performed better, were more accountable, and were more engaged with their work than those in more traditional workplace environments.
