The Benefits of Video Onboarding

Wednesday, August 24, 2016

Due to stretched resources, much of a small business’s onboarding processes have to be hands-on. There are no dedicated training teams, no boot camps, and no fancy pieces of training collateral to give new hires. However, rather than spending hours and hours getting a recruit up to speed, small businesses are increasingly leveraging the power of video training to expedite and bolster their training processes. Video training not only saves time, it also helps standardize the message management is sending to incoming employees. In a traditional, sit-down training session, a manager’s words will vary, and the emphasis might shift depending on the current culture or the manager’s mood. Capturing a training session on video will ensure that a consistent message is being delivered to new hires, and that all new hires will be coming in with the same information. Additionally, these materials can be made available on-demand, which means new hires can rewatch the information at their convenience if they have any questions or didn’t quite grasp a concept the first time around, rather than fumbling through their first few weeks.
