Although much has been written on the nebulous nature of employee engagement, some experts say engaging a workforce doesn’t have to be overly complicated. The principles of employee engagement are the exact same principles that one would apply at home with a family. Engagement doesn’t occur due to isolated events and sporadic projects, it must happen because of a shifting mindset in the way an organization views its employees. For employees to be engaged, their needs must be met. This means providing them with a reasonable, comfortable place to work, and managers who are concerned with their well-being as well as their productivity. Just like a family, employees won't be engaged unless a connection is made. It's important for managers to develop bonds with their employees, and for employees to develop bonds with each other. Facilitating this process will create true engagement.
