To Boost Engagement, Increase Volunteering

Wednesday, October 19, 2016

Boosting organizational engagement levels seems simple, but leadership can often lose sight of the goal, missing the forest for the trees. In order to successfully boost morale and dedication, it’s helpful to go back to one simple truth – people are never looking for a job, they’re looking for a purpose. Because of this, volunteering should be a critical part of any organization’s engagement strategy. However, no two corporate volunteering programs are the same. The success of a volunteering program is dependent on connecting employees with the causes they are passionate about. The best place to start when thinking about implementing a volunteering component to an engagement strategy is to send out a company-wide survey to gauge what causes employees feel the most passionately about, and what skills they are most interested in contributing. Then, when appropriate causes and non-profits have been identified, a company can begin to shape volunteering opportunities on a department-wide or even individual basis, depending on the feedback.
