As January comes to a close, many employers are trying to make good on their New Year's resolutions. One of the biggest resolutions among management this year was to boost employee engagement. And while this is an important goal, it can be incredibly difficult to achieve. One of the biggest hurdles is for management to focus on the process, rather than the outcome. However, by focusing on the process, managers may find that improving the engagement of their team is an enjoyable process, rather than a burden. The fear of failure dissipates, and both managers and employees can put forth their best efforts. However, while focusing on the process, it is still important to track outcomes to ensure efforts are achieving the intended results. However, these evaluations should be fairly frequent, and be viewed as benchmarks rather than ultimate measures of success or failure.
