To Train or Not to Train

Monday, February 20, 2017

It’s true that employees may leave after you train them, but untrained employees sticking around will end up costing the company a lot more. Trained salespeople, for instance, make fewer mistakes, generate larger average sales, and garner more positive reviews online, among a whole host of other positive benefits. However, training isn’t just essential for salespeople. Training keeps morale and productivity high and has a major impact on the customer service practices of employees across all industries. This can increase referral business, bolstering the bottom line significantly. In simple terms, if a trained employee becomes 100 percent productive, and an untrained employee works at 60 percent, the company misses 40 percent of the business that employee could potentially conduct. Put even more simply, not training is far more expensive than training.
