Expand Your Professional Development With Certifications

Monday, May 20, 2019

The Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) and Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD) certifications are marks of distinction that recognize a talent development professional’s skills and expertise in knowledge areas—all 10 for the CPLP and three for the APTD—as defined by the ATD Competency Model.

Many employers support their employees in earning certifications such as the CPLP and APTD, because the rigor and learning acquired through the certification process leads to improved employee performance and greater customer satisfaction, among other advantages. According to a Robert Half poll, “A majority of CFOs interviewed (72 percent) said their company covers some or all of the cost for staff to obtain professional certifications, and 76 percent said their organization helps in maintaining credentials once earned.” This commitment to employee competence is stronger than ever.

Now, ATD is making it easier for organizations to help their employees with certification by adding CPLP and APTD certification to the learning resources that can be used as part of their Enterprise Solutions learning credits. Organizations can support applicants with their testing materials, exam, and recertification, in addition to their certification application.

To learn more about how you can decide which certification is right for you, stop by ATD Central in Grand Foyer Salons ABC in the convention center to speak with staff from ATD’s Competencies and Credentialing Department. Or to get assistance on ways to convince your employer to support you on your learning journey, visit the Enterprise Solutions booth, #1137, in the EXPO hall.

The purpose of the CPLP and APTD certification is to elevate the talent development profession by creating talent development profession-wide standards, providing an independent assessment of those standards through credentialing, supporting career paths through testing, and ensuring recognition through certification and continued professional development through recertification.
