Make the Most of ATD 2019

You may have traveled a long way. You’re certainly stepping away from your daily tasks for a few days. So, make the most of your ATD 2019 experience.

While the conference experience can be awesome, it can also be daunting, given the more than 10,000 talent development professionals to network with and learn from, more than 400 exhibitors showcasing their latest solutions to your learning challenges, some 300 education sessions, and three fabulous keynote speakers.

Fortunately, several resources are available for you to tap.

Orientation sessions

ATD is sponsoring three orientation sessions to help you prepare for the conference. The ATD 2019 Program Advisory Committee will be available during the first session, which will be held Saturday, May 18, from 5 to 6 p.m. in Ballroom A of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. A follow-up orientation session will be held Sunday morning from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., also in Ballroom A.

A concurrent Sunday morning session, specifically designed for international attendees, will take place in Ballroom C of the Convention Center. During this session, experienced attendees will share tips and highlight unique events and services for international guests. The session will be simultaneously interpreted in Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin.

In addition to the conference tips that Wendy Terwelp provided in her April 5 webcast, Network Like a Rock Star and Increase Your Conference ROI,” you can make the most of your time with colleagues by networking. The Meet to Eat service at ATD 2019 is an opportunity to connect with others for dinner Sunday and Monday. Diners will experience some of the finest D.C.-area dining. Stop by the Grand Lobby in the Convention Center by noon each day to ensure seating availability.

Visiting the Global Village also gives guests a chance to meet others from their home country or get to know individuals from around the world. The village is located on Level 3, South Prefunction in the Convention Center. And young professionals can preregister at to connect with peers during the Young Professionals Night Out at the District Chophouse and Brewery Sunday at 6 p.m.

Industry-Specific Events and Gatherings

Government workers are invited to attend sessions and meet with colleagues at the Government Pavilion, Room 143AB of the Convention Center; check the program guide for hours of operation each day.

The Healthcare Lunch & Learn gives attendees an opportunity to learn about talent management in the industry for the 21st century. Sponsored by Cornerstone, the Sunday event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 202 of the Convention Center.

Also on Sunday, sales enablement professionals can gather for their own Lunch & Learn, sponsored by Highspot, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 207 of the Convention Center.
