In times of change and crisis, organizations often resort to a learned helplessness: “I don’t know what to do when the future is so uncertain.” By emotionally preparing yourself, gaining a perspective on what could happen, and then planning for multiple scenarios, you can help your leaders support the organization in moving from crisis to clarity.
Learners are made, not born. How we learn has historically focused on intelligence, memorization, and what we intuited about learning. The new science of learning emphasizes learners getting better at learning, which is significant to education being able to successfully address the rapid changes in information, human experiences, equity, and the future of work. This session was presented at the ATD21 Conference, held @Home and @HQ, in Salt Lake City, on August 28 - September 1, 2021.
The modern workplace has become excessively complicated and we pay the price with unnecessary emails, calls, and meetings. Organizations are stronger with cross functional teams, yet they deal with massive constraints, leading to endless dysfunction and delays. Why do some organizations deliver high performance and others not? The answer is a new skill called connectional intelligence. Learn how to get big things done with this modern skill. This session was recorded at the ATD 2019 International Conference & EXPO, May 19 - 22, 2019 in Washington D.C.
Almost every aspect of the way we work is changing as the world shifts from lifetime employment to freelance work arrangements, and as new technologies portend to displace jobs at an unprecedented rate. Today, in the United States alone, 34 percent of the workforce is already freelance, a number that is expected to rise to 50 percent by 2030. Drivers and retail clerks-two of the largest professions worldwide-are among the most at-risk for technological disruption as driverless cars and self-serve tablets become the norm. Tackling the complexity of the future of work in terms of its impact on companies, workers, and policy makers, keynoter April Rinne reveals the trends behind the stats, helping stakeholders across industries prepare for the evolving nature of work. Breaking down complex shifts and interweaving powerful experiences with hard-hitting facts, Rinne shares how we can maximize the benefits of the future of work and ensure that new technologies augment rather than replace human potential, ultimately providing a playbook so that organizations and individuals can become predictive and proactive, staying two steps ahead of the competition. This session was recorded at the ATD 2019 TechKnowledge conference in West Palm Beach, Florida.
You already have a strong workplace culture, you just might not recognize what it is. And when you take a deeper look at it, it may not be what you'd hoped for. Crafting a statement of your company's values is usually the first step-and sadly, the only step many organizations take, simply to check it off the list. A statement containing the usual suspects (integrity, mutual respect, and so on) simply won't cut it. You must define the culture you feel will best serve you and your customers, and then you must do what it takes to make it come alive in your organization. CEO and founder of Fierce, Susan Scott, will tell you what her company has done to create and sustain the culture that drives the behaviors and outcomes of Fierce Conversations.
