From the learner’s perspective, there is probably very little difference between training and facilitation. Effective L&D pros, however, know better.
The ATD Learning System says that training “supports learner’s needs to ensure effective learning and improved workplace performance.” Meanwhile, it explains that facilitation “supports processes and teams by developing and coaching performers, selecting and integrating the best tools, and coordinating the improvement.” Check out the infographic below for some key attributes of training versus facilitation skills.
