Who are the more than 5,000 talent development professionals who have earned the APTD or CPTD credential? Get to know the talented and diverse community:
Kadhem Aljabr is the Head of a Human Resources Program in the SAU. He earned the Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD®) credential in 2021.
Why did you pursue the APTD?
I work in a government agency where training and development is one of the primary functions. I was looking to earn a professional certificate that would enhance my ability in talent development, and my employer has helped and supported me in earning this credential.
How have you benefited from the credential—professionally and/or personally?
This credential has expanded my knowledge and skills in the field of instructional design, training delivery, performance management, and more. After earning the APTD certification, I have worked on several projects, including designing a training program and developing another one. I was also assigned as a performance management coordinator.
What advice would you share with others considering certification?
This credential will equip you with the most updated knowledge and skills needed to perform a job in a rapid marketplace.
How do you think certification helps the talent development field?
It focuses on several topics that are essential in that field and presents them in a very organized way.
How did your employer support your pursuit of the credential?
My employer gave me the required time to prepare for the APTD exam, facilitated coordination within the team, and paid for the prep course and exam fees.
What does having your credential mean to you?
I have gained knowledge and skills, and the certification I got is from ATD, which is one of the best-known organizations in the world focusing on talent development.
How did you get into the talent development field?
In college, my major was in human resources, and I now work for one of the best organizations, the Institute of Public Administration, Saudi Arabia.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
It’s never too late to learn new things.

What is your favorite hobby or pastime?
One main activity I like is reading books.
What is the most unusual job you've had?
My father used to have a toy store, and I used to help him as salesman.
