Change is always difficult, but great leaders know that change must be managed to facilitate smooth transitions without interrupting organizational processes. One of the best ways to manage change is to provide employees with the opportunities to upskill and reskill. Whenever a new process or technology is rolled out, new skill sets are required for its mastery. Having the training infrastructure in place before making the change ensures the process is as smooth as possible. This type of training is particularly important for managers, who act as ambassadors for the change. “Like with any new application or hardware, the HR leader needs to make it easy for employees to adopt,” says Gordon Pelosse of CompTIA. “This means having training, documentation, subject matter experts, or mentors identified that are available to support the employees with questions. Too often, there is an assumption the new tool is intuitive and simple. Well, perhaps it is to the developer or HR professional but maybe not to the first-level manager.”
