As the pandemic drags on, many in leadership roles are considering what a return to the office might look like. Employees are aching for a return to normalcy or at least a clear path forward. This desire, however, is stoking tensions among two groups—specifically, the vaccinated and the unvaccinated. Managers want to provide safe venues for their employees to perform their tasks, but striking a balance between the two cohorts is proving to be a major challenge. According to a recent study, 37 percent of companies said vaccinated staff was noticeably frustrated by the presence of their unvaccinated counterparts, and 21 percent said that their unvaccinated employees felt slighted by management and co-workers alike for their personal health decisions. “In some workplaces, we have seen a significant spike in hostility,” said corporate law expert Philippe Weiss. “Human resources contacts report the stress of attempting to manage the introduction of oft-changing COVID safety policies with, in some cases, an inundation of gripes from both the vaxxed and unvaxxed.”
