According to recent reports, nearly half of the working population is currently looking for a new job. But does that mean they’re looking to leave their organization? Not necessarily. Job seekers find new roles in lots of ways, but many are overlooking opportunities within their own companies. According to a recent report, 54 percent of job seekers have not looked internally for a new position. The reasons for this are myriad. Nearly half of these folks say their company isn’t doing enough to promote inward mobility, and others feel that to grow in their career, they need to look outside of their organization. What should you do, though, if you find yourself in this situation? Experts suggest examining why you’re looking for a new role. Ask yourself if you’re unhappy with your position, or with the company itself. If the answer to the latter is yes, there might be issues connected to the culture of the organization, and it might be better to look for external opportunities. If the issue stems from dissatisfaction in your role, there might be opportunities within your company that could satisfy your needs.
