What Employees Want When They Change Positions

The Great Resignation has created massive upheaval in the business world. Employees have decided enough is enough and are looking for what they see as better employment opportunities. What, exactly, are they looking for though? For many, it’s an increase in income or benefits. About 64 percent of those polled in a study on what is motivating employees to seek out new positions said pay and benefits were a very important consideration. Next on the list was a greater sense of work-life balance and an improved sense of well-being. About 61 percent said this was very important to them. Other factors included the ability to put their skills to good use, greater job security and stability, health and safety precautions and policies that align with their beliefs, and an increased sense of inclusion and diversity. What does this mean for employers? Simply put, they need to take notice of what modern workers want and adjust their culture to offer it. If you’re “selling” something employees don’t want to buy, you’re quickly going to be hemorrhaging talent in this new world.
