On December 6, "Doc" Laffer, Pres-ident of ASTD, was present by invita-tion at a meeting called by the Depart-ment of Labor in Washington, D. C. Prominent representatives of industry, universities, vocational schools, unions and the U. S. Office of Education and the National Security Resources Board were present. This meeting was of a general ex-ploratory nature and allowed the many divergent ideas as to how the problem of training in war time should be han-dled to be put forward for discussion.
