The article presents various news briefs relating to employees in the U.S. Women in 17 jobs earn more than men do in the same jobs-at least, they do in Michigan. Women who are depressed say that it's their biggest obstacle to advancing in their careers-even more so than gender discrimination, pregnancy, or child care issues. What's worse, three out of four depressed women don't ask for help because they worry it will jeopardize their standing at work, says the University of Michigan. A Georgia high school senior who got a job as a hostess at a local Hooters restaurant asked to be given work-study credits.
