The article underscores how communities of practice are experiencing renewed popularity as a workplace leaning tool. It states that federal government employees in Canada take part in a virtual community called the Interdepartmental Committee on Continuous Learning. The members of the community use the network to forward requests for help from peers, exchange best practices, and make information available before and after committee meetings. This is also done at IBM Corporation wherein more than 100 professionals within IBM Learning Americas belong to the Global Instructor Community. World Bank employees are also involved in the recent Fast Track Initiative, designed to speed up educational projects in developing countries.
