The article presents information on a major skills survey of Great Britain manufacturing companies conducted to determine the productivity and profitability of manufacturers. The findings of the survey indicates an apparent association between the productivity and profitability of manufacturers who do not prioritize training, but relate their training plans to strategic business objectives. Two-thirds of companies said the main reason for increasing training was improving productivity. It has also been found that companies had increased the amount spent on training over the last 12 months.
