The article reports that measurement and evaluation have been treated as afterthoughts in the workplace learning and performance (WLP) community. Today, the profession has made significant advances in redefining the role of the WLP professional, most notably with ASTD's 2004 competency study, Mapping the Future: Shaping New Workplace Learning and Performance. Most organizations use some form of an employee satisfaction or culture survey to gather valuable feedback for change and serve as an indicator of the WLP program's influence.
