This article reports that according to estimates, between 200,000 and 500,000 white-collar jobs in the United States have moved to other countries in the past three years. Cheap labor in places such as India, China, and the Philippines has drawn Western countries such as the United States and the Great Britain to contract with overseas businesses for workers, including call center agents, information technology specialists, and medical technicians. In some cases, the lack of a skilled workforce motivates companies to offshore jobs. Forrester, an information technology research and consulting firm, points to a shortage of IT workers in the United States that's growing worse.
