This article focuses on the role of training in homeland and workplace. In the United States one can't turn around without seeing mentions of homeland security in newspapers, on television, in metro stations and airports and in workplaces. Stricter controls by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and its partners are firming up U.S. borders making it more difficult for potential terrorists to enter the country. One major area that still needs improvement is security in private industry. Although experts point out that U.S. business interests were targeted in attack on World Trade Center and in distribution of anthrax through the U.S. Postal Service a year after September 11, 2001 only half of organizations surveyed by Society for Human Resource Management had put tighter security measures in place.
