The Hidden Classroom

The article offers information on volunteerism among employees. It mentions that volunteerism offers great possibilities for the development of employees. It is however noted that few organizations take advantage of this hidden classroom. Relative to this, Deloitte, a New York-based consulting agency, conducted a study on leaders of human resources departments at Fortune 500 companies regarding volunteerism as a training tool. It is posed that majority of organizations consider volunteerism as a potential source for building skills. Moreover, only 25% of organization being surveyed said that they always or frequently do so, while 90% somewhat agree that volunteerism can develop leadership skills.
