With xAPI gaining in adoption, the front end tools that allow for mass adoption are ready, and the products that serve as data engines are becoming more mature. You could say that xAPI is 'geek-free' and ready to go. When moving from a SCORM-based world to an xAPI environment, you have the opportunity to create coherent topically based learning environments, instead of a collection media- or product-based silos. In this session, we'll explore common mistakes in three key areas of xAPI implementation. First, we'll look at how instructional designers create learning environments and activity statements that capture the data they'll need: identifying users, choosing verbs, aligning multiple products and tools, and capturing the right contextual information. Next we'll focus on data storage infrastructure: does your LMS still play a role and how does it work with xAPI? This is where L&D and IT partner more closely. Finally, we'll discuss picking the right project for your xAPI implementation. Will you go big or go small and under the radar? This session was recorded at the ATD 2018 TechKnowledge conference in San Jose, California.
