The American Society for Training and Development's (ASTD's) Certification Institute awarded the 1,000th Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP)
credential this month. Workplace learning and development practitioners earn the CPLP credential by demonstrating an overall understanding of the nine areas of expertise for the profession as defined by the ASTD Competency Model. Since its launch in 2006, the CPLP designation has provided the workplace learning field with a standard of excellence and gives practitioners a platform to demonstrate and validate their competencies, prove their worth, and ultimately increase the impact they have on organizations.
"To have 1,000 learning professionals earn their CPLP within the program's first five years demonstrates learning practitioners' commitment to their own professional development and career success," says Tony Bingham, president of ASTD's Certification Institute. "We have seen an increase in 'CPLP preferred' job listings since 2006, further indicating that organizations are recruiting learning professionals who can demonstrate deep expertise in the field."
"The CPLP certification process is rigorous and produces candidates with a breadth of knowledge that brings significant benefit to their employers, colleagues, and clients," says Jennifer Naughton, Senior Director of Credentialing for the ASTD Certification Institute. "CPLP credential holders bring respect to an organization's training function and provide a strong foundation for success through their confirmed expertise," she adds.
