How does EY define talent development?
EY's talent development framework is known as EYU, which stands for EY & You and reflects the mutual commitment of EY and the individual to owning their development and career. Through EYU, development is managed in an integrated way.
Upon hire, everyone is assigned a counselor who is responsible for providing one-on-one guidance and conversation throughout the year on goal setting, development planning, and performance management. About 10 percent of development is formal learning; 70 percent happens through on-the-job experiences and assignments; and 20 percent comes from coaching and mentoring.
What are the components of talent development at EY?
Talent development is one part of a larger function called simply: talent. The other major components are recruiting, diversity and inclusiveness, and HR strategy. Talent development includes learning, performance management, teaming, coaching, and succession planning.
Where does the talent function fit into the org chart?
EY's top leadership group, known as the Global Executive, includes me, the vice chair for talent, who reports directly to CEO and Chairman Mark Weinberger. I am one of 18 members of the Global Executive and also a member of EY's Board.
The talent function, including talent development, is embedded throughout the company's service lines and geographic areas of operation. Talent leaders have dual reporting relationships to the heads of the businesses they serve and to leaders in the talent function.
