As mobile learning continues to gain mainstream appeal, innovative minds are creating smartphone applications to enable ease of adoption and use. The Assessment & Development Group International is one such company that has developed three apps to help increase coaching success and facilitate behavioral change; better engage and retain employees; and improve sales and customer relationships--all from a mobile device.

Each app uses the Interaction Styles (IS) Model, a quadrant of four interactive behavioral styles--driver, analytical, expressive, and supportive--based on the intersection of two major dimensions of interpersonal behavior: assertiveness and responsiveness. An eight-minute personality inventory, called the OMS Questionnaire, uncovers your interaction style. The 20-item IS Checklist determines the interaction styles of your employees or clients. Both assessments results are scored, transmitted, and stored via your smartphone.

The Coach app generates an IS graph and descriptive report for your team members. Based on each employee's interaction style, the app provides a coaching strategy with specific tactics that work best for that individual; guidance on how to modify your behavior to be more responsive; and a question-and-answer exercise to prepare you to address specific issues when coaching.

In addition to the IS reports, the Interact app also assesses your management style. It provides a management strategy with motivational methods catered to each employee and suggestions to better lead employees, all based on interpersonal dynamics and individual preferences.

Finally, the SuperSell app includes a personal IS report, IS graphs for each buyer, and an assessment of your selling style. Based on this information, SuperSell provides a detailed sales strategy with insight into the needs, expectations, and perceptions of your buyers and tactics to best facilitate relationships and increase sales. Each app is available in a free versionPerformance Coach, Super Manager, and Power Selling.

"What I find most exciting is that our apps are personal productivity tools that hand-deliver training when and where its needed," says Frank Gump, president of The Assessment & Development Group International. "Much like a navigation system, they deliver situationally relevant, specific behavioral guidance right at the time of an interaction."
