Every June, students contact me on LinkedIn, desperate to find an L&D internship before the opportunity slips away for the summer. I feel for them. In most small- to medium-sized cities, hundreds of students compete for a handful of talent development internships. Most of them instead will go home and flip burgers for the summer.
