AI Is Changing the Way We Work, and Leaders Need to Catch Up

Tuesday, March 24, 2020

Artificial intelligence is fundamentally changing the way workers perform their daily duties, and business leaders need to adapt before they’re left behind. A recent survey of 5,700 Harvard Business School alumni revealed that 52 percent of this group felt that a typical company will be employing fewer workers in three years. To do this, we need to understand the nature of work. Jobs are nothing more than a collection of tasks, and while jobs change slowly, tasks evolve at a much faster rate. Leaders will need to reallocate human capital according to these changes as the widespread adaption of AI takes place. To do so, training will become a crucial function of business. Reskilling workers to succeed alongside technological tools will be critical to the success of businesses. New educational models and methods for continuous learning can help address what will become a critical skills gap and help workers develop the in-demand skills they’ll need to be successful in their careers.
