Demand for Stress Management Skills Skyrockets

Monday, November 30, 2020

This has been a year of unprecedented disruptions, and many companies are training employees to be more resilient. According to a recent study from Udemy, soft skill training is up, particularly as it relates to skills regarding the management of stress and improving mental health. For example, the demand for anxiety management training has increased by nearly 4,000 percent on the learning platform. Resilience is up 1,296 percent, stress management is up by 1,015 percent, meditation is up 886 percent, and mindfulness is up by 784 percent. It’s clear that people are struggling, and as employers aim to support their workers through the continued crisis, experts agree that investing in training to help employees better manage their mental health will have a lasting impact on the resilience and productivity of the workforce overall. Unfortunately, not many organizations are getting this exactly right. According to a recent McKinsey report, 96 percent of companies say they’ve made significant changes to their HR policies to increase employee resources during the pandemic; however, only one in six workers say they feel supported by their organization.
