How to Create More Time

Friday, January 4, 2019

Everyone would like to be more productive at work, but there’s only so many tasks we can fit into the rigid 24 hours a day everyone’s given. However, by rethinking the way we structure our time, we might be able to relieve some pressure. One of the quickest ways to feel like you have more time is to quit something, and the start of the year is the perfect time to do exactly that. Take a look at all the activities you participate in, and quit something. Do you really need to keep that recurring weekly meeting going? Do you need to be on that committee? How much are you really getting out of Facebook? Sometimes it’s difficult to quit something outright, but that doesn’t mean you have to devote as much time to it as you did. Limiting something can also be a way to free up a little more of your day. For example, you can limit the amount of time you spend checking email by giving yourself three windows—morning, noon, and evening, for example—to take a look at your inbox, rather than having it open all day.
