HR Needs to Step Up

Tuesday, November 21, 2017

With the recent wave of sexual harassment allegations and high-profile men stepping down or being fired over past unacceptable behaviors, there is an urgent need for HR professionals to lead. CBS recently fired famous journalist Charlie Rose on Tuesday over multiple allegations of sexual harassment, and many of the women who came forward said at the time they had no department to turn to. Moving forward, CBS News President David Rhodes says, “We will have human resource support going forward today and every day, and we are organizing more personal and direct training which you will hear about from senior management shortly.” To be truly effective, HR professionals need to rethink the boundaries of their roles and redefine themselves as a sector.
