Managerial Talent and Engagement Levels

According to a recent Gallup poll, managers who have high levels of managerial talent are twice as likely to be engaged in their work than those with low skill levels. Managers who possess functioning or moderate levels of talent are significantly less likely than the most talented group to be engaged, the poll revealed. A little over half of managers who were highly skilled were engaged with their work, while 37 percent reported not being engaged. On the other hand, 27 percent of managers who were found to have limited talent were engaged with work, while 58 percent were not engaged at all. And managerial engagement seems to be contagious. The study found that managers with high levels of talent tended to lead teams that were also engaged, resulting in higher levels of productivity and employee retention rates compared with teams led by low-skilled managers. High-level teams also experienced more engaged customers and were 48 percent more profitable. These skilled managers were also more likely to be brand ambassadors for their organizations, and they were twice as likely to strongly advocate for their products and services.
